25-09-23 // 2500 YEARS OF COMMUNAL LIVING
The concept of ‘Communal Living’ has been present in various forms over the last 25 centuries
BOARD developed together with STAR – strategies + architecture a timeline of 2500 years of communal living. The project was originally conceived as a part of BOARD’s and STAR’s contribution to the Atelier International Grand Paris (AIGP).
In March the timeline was presented in detail by Bernd Upmeyer at the international symposium “Learning from Sharing” at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies of the Polytechnic University of Milan. More parts of this research project will be shown soon in Research.
At the Guise Familistère (19th c.) almost two thousand people shared services
